My companion in birth and death

My companion in birth and death!
The thought of you is not lost during day or night.

The heart knows no rest if eyes lose your sight,
My bosom knows the travails of my eyes

My companion in birth and death!
The thought of you is not lost during day or night.

I walk tall paths taught by wise men,
And at their end, I am crying again and again.
The whole world is known to be fake,
And fake must be all its ways.
Forlorn, I join my hands in prayer
Heed my words, dear one!

My companion in birth and death!
The thought of you is not lost during day or night.

My heart is very wild
like a mad elephant.
Good guide!
Place your hands as a goad
on my head,
and contain this insanity.

I shall drink moment by moment
the form of you,
my husband,
and attain bliss
Bliss unparalleled!
Bliss unparalleled!

My companion in birth and death!
The thought of you is not lost during day or night.

Meera's lord is the gentleman, Giridhar,
and her heart loves the feet of Hari.
